Manly Wolves game update- 17th September

Manly Wolves AFL grand final

It has taken them 4 years but on Saturday the Division 1 Manly Wolves team won themselves a premiership and the club the winning cup! It was a hot day, with the grand final against Southern Power being played at Blacktown from 1:10pm.

The boys got off to a flying start, scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes. But the heat started to set it and the players struggled, particularly after half time where southern power got themselves on a roll. It came down to less than a goal difference and the last quarter had the crowd on their seat. In the last 10 mins we had players coming off all at once, cramping in calves and quadriceps- at one stage we had four players all limping off at the same time! But the siren blew to call full time after getting up by 10 points to let the celebrations begin!

What a season we have had at the club this year. We congratulate the players and the coaches for their win and we are positive that the injury management strategies that were put in place at the start of the season helped keep the best players on the field, especially for the last game that counted most. We hope all the boys recover well and enjoy the break before it all starts again! PS there is no injury clinic this week!
