GAITSCAN
Gaitscan is a tool used in the assessment of lower limb biomechanics. It uses an electronic force plate that analyses areas of pressure on the foot both statically and dynamically via pressure sensors.
Results are displayed as both a 2D and 3D image and compared to the pressures experienced during gait of a ‘normal’ foot. The Gaitscan allows for abnormal foot function and mechanics, a common cause of pain and injury to the body, to be identified and therefore addressed.
This tool, along with physiotherapy assessment, can help assess if custom orthotics is needed as a form of treatment to improve lower limb biomechanics.
